Pet Care Technician - Small Animal Clinic

From Joey Evans

Life as a tech in small animal clinic
It's never boring!

By education I am a teacher, but decided after awhile that I wanted to work with animals, which I have always had a strong love for. I was lucky enough to become employed by a small animal vet clinic about a year and a half ago.

We are a one doctor practice. Our doctor is very caring and one of the best men I know. He treats small and large animals.

We have four techs, including myself. We are all cross-trained and we all do everything from tech duties to surgery to kennels and answering phones.

I have worked several rewarding jobs, but this is by far the most rewarding (yet hard) job that I have had. I wouldn't trade it for the world!

Our normal business hours are 8:00am-5:30pm, but we could be there until 10pm -- that is one of the hardest things about the business -- you never know what might be walking through the door at any given time.

I would encourage anyone that has a true love for pets to think about getting into this field...
