Success
Stories! Tommy the GreyhoundOne and a half years ago, my beloved Tommy, the 1st of 4 greys we have adopted, broke his leg very badly right at the ankle . He had 4 surgeries, involving pins, arthrodesis* and infection of the bones, which could not be controlled despite massive doses of antibiotics. Four months after the initial break, the decision was reluctantly made to amputate his leg (right front). The operation was performed, and today, Tommy is still the same sweet darling he always was. His disposition never changed throughout his long ordeal. Tommy was the favorite patient of the Doctors at Ohio State. He sat on the sofa in the lounge and the vets sat on the floor!!! He runs, walks, plays, and has never lost his position as dominant dog in the house!!! *arthrodesis = surgical fusion of a damaged joint for increased stability and reduced pain.
