Pediculosis is the clinical name for a lice infestation. Regarding terminology, "lice" is plural, "louse" is singular. Lice are unique parasites in that they only live on the species that they are intended for - for example, cat lice can only live on cats, dog lice can only live on dogs, horse lice can only live on horses, and so on. There are two types of lice; biting lice (bite skin) and sucking lice (suck blood).
