NEW PET PUZZLES!
Are you experiencing the winter blahs? Cabin Fever? I ventured
out in the snow (and cozied up by the stove) for some new
photographs of my pets and created some winter photo puzzles.

DECLAWING DILEMMA - SURVEY
As most of you know, elective declawing of cats is a hot topic
in the forum and an emotional issue for many cat lovers. The
"Declawing Dilemma" article has been updated to help educate
cat
lovers about the surgery:

I am working with Franny Syufy, the Cats Guide here at About,
on a survey for veterinarians and veterinary professionals
regarding declawing. Please email me if you are interested in
participating. mailto:vetmedicine.guide@about.com

OCD THERAPY FOR A MARE?
LOTTASPOTS asks....
"I hope that there is a vet out there that can help me. I am
posting this regarding a mare who has been diagnosed with OCD
in her right hock. My questions are these:
1) How should I have this mare shod to make her more comfortable?
2) Are there any supplements that are better than others to bring
her some relief?
3) Is there any injectable therapy that I can try?"

WHAT ABOUT THE "HARD" SCIENCES?
"I always thought about veterinary medicine but have let fear and
insecurity stop me from pursuing it. I don't have an affinity for
the "hard" sciences, in fact chemistry (I have not taken physics
or
required math like calc) is a big struggle for me. But I do love
bio, animal behavior etc. My father is a dentist and has told me,
as have other people in the medical profession, that you don't really
use those sciences after school. My question is, however, does anyone
out there think that in order to make it in to vet school or succeed
as a vet you HAVE to be a natural with the "hard" sciences?"
