Today is Thanksgiving in the United States, a day of giving thanks with friends and family with lots of food, fun and maybe... in some houses, football.
I would like to take today to send warm greetings of the season and good health for you and your pets.
Healthy Holiday Tip
Remember to not to overindulge the pets with treats and table scraps; pancreatitis can be life threatening. Instead, offer low-cal, low-fat biscuits or raw carrots to occupy pets, feed them before the big dinner, or give them a "busy" food-filled toy, such as the Kibble Nibble or Kong toy (compare types and prices), filled with low cal and low fat treats.
More pet-related ideas for the holiday:
- Take time celebrate the health benefits of the human-animal bond
- Go for a walk or other fun exercise with your dog(s)
- Start thinking of those special pets and people on your holiday shopping list
- Watch the National Dog Show Presented by PurinaŽ - Thursday, Nov. 22nd on NBC - Noon-2 p.m. in all time zones following coverage of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
