Lianne McLeod, DVM, (former) About.com Guide to Exotic Pets, has information about your pet pigs and ferrets. Unlike dogs and cats, pigs and ferrets do share biological similarities with humans, and are generally susceptible to human influenza viruses (including influenza A viruses, a group of which the "swine flu" virus H1N1 is a member). It is important to note that, at this writing, no cases of H1N1 pig or ferret infections have been reported.
