Lianne McLeod, DVM, (former) About.com Guide to Exotic Pets, has information about your pet pigs and ferrets. Unlike dogs and cats, pigs and ferrets do share biological similarities with humans, and are generally susceptible to human influenza viruses (including influenza A viruses, a group of which the "swine flu" virus H1N1 is a member). It is important to note that, at this writing, no cases of H1N1 pig or ferret infections have been reported.

Here is the H1N1 pet health roundup from our About.com Pet Guides:

As always, use proper sanitation for the health of your animals (flu outbreak or not) and contact your veterinarian at the first signs of illness.
