Pregnant in Vet School - Safety Concerns?

Wednesday February 23, 2005
MEYAO asks: "I am (though I hate to admit it) one of the "older" students preparing for vet school. (I never thought I would be calling 31 years old "old"!) One of the concerns I have is the fact that if all goes well, I will be in vet school from ages 33 through 37. It occurred to me that I should probably start having kids at some point before I turn 40. (Of course it would be nice to find a significant other first!) Could being pregnant while in vet school be a problem? Yes, I know it would be hard in terms of stress and being on your feet and not getting enough sleep... but I am more concerned with things such as handling animal urine or taking x-rays."
