Emerging Zoonotic Disease - Racoon Roundworm Infection

A zoonotic disease is an animal disease that is transmissible to humans. Racoon Roundworms, also known as Baylisascaris procyonis can be a very serious threat to human health, particularly children. Racoons are often found where humans are, scavenging for garbage and uneaten pet food. This parasite is shed in the racoon feces.
