My dog Gidget was injected with this drug and I had to put her down due to the fact she contracted GME…Has anyone else lost a pet due to this horrible illness…..My vet told me it was not the cause of her condition but it caused siezures and lots of other issues. She was only 3 when she got the illness and i tried to keep her alive as long as I could. I spent over $10,000 on her and would have spent more but she got so ill and weak I had to put her down after 2 yrs of this illness…thanks

I have just had my 2 year old welsh springer spaniel tentatively diagnosed with GME of the spinal cord. His back legs are affected. We just noticed this 10 days ago and are stunned by the diagnosis. My vet says the steroid treatment is not effective. We are going to consult a neurologist for a 2nd opinion. Can you tell me more about your Gidget’s symptoms. I am devastated. Thanks

I just lost my 7 year old Miniature Schnauzer to GME. She was fine one minute and dragging her left hind leg the next. She went into seizures that were uncontrollable until she was put into a drug induced coma. After spending over $6,ooo on tests she was diagnosed with GME. Extensive brain damaged left us with no other choice but to put her down. She had received a Pro-Heart 6 injection.

Our other Mini was diagnosed with IMHA after being injected with Pro-Heart 6. IMHA is an immune system disease as is GME. Fort Dodge settled with us for the amount of the cost of treating her. She will be on immune suppressant drugs for the rest of her life.

Lessons learned – I will never allow my dogs to receive injections of any sort, after their initial puppy immunizations, ever again.
