Fleas - Help Please

Wednesday July 23, 2003
From the VetMed forum: WLTDNFADED asks "Just wondering if anyone has advice as to how to stop cross-infestation of fleas. I have 1 dog and three cats, and it seems we are under attack! This is the first time we've had a flea infestation, and I am hoping someone can help me out."

Is it okay to put minced garlic on your
dogs food, rather than the juice?

Garlic and onions in large quantities are *toxic* to dogs. Garlic and onion can cause Heinz body anemia in dogs and cats. This is where the blood cells break down and result in anemia.

A tiny bit of garlic for flavoring seems to be OK. I have not seen any evidence that it helps or does anything for fleas. I do not recommend using it.
