Thank Goodness for Biscuits by Lambchop!
- After testing many human foods I became suspicious of "allergy free" dog foods and treats and was very sad to learn that most "gluten or grain free" dog foods and treats actually do contain the ingredients they boast they do not. I'm just so thankful for those brands who take the time and effort to make sure their products are not contaminated. And what's even better is that Biscuits by Lambchop's gluten-free dog treats are also healthy--and not just for dogs, many people find the human-grade natural ingredients oddly addictive as well!

Homemade from Now On
- I agree with those who have stated, not enough is being done to get the word out on these recalls. I purchased Nature's Variety raw chicken on 3/05/2010. There was nothing posted on their website, nor at the retail store. I only found out by chance...doing a google search on different variety of raw diets & treats. If I didn't do that search, I would still be feeding my 11 month old Golden Retriever that contaminated chicken! It makes me both sick and angry that they have not made this public via radio and television. I went back to the store for my refund (they were nice enough to give me store credit, since I no longer had the actual store reciept). And there was a paper print out of the recall on the glass freezer door. You have to stand right on top of that paper to read it.And there is NO BIG BOLD print,so you really have to be paying attention. I don't care what's on Nature's Variety website now, people still don't know! And they need to know! From now on, Homemade food!!

Home-made diet
- We are able to feed our families nutritionally sound meals and facilitate growth and development of children. With a little effort we can do the same for our pets. People should not succumb to the supposed convenience of using processed pet food based on advertising and profit motivation from big business.

Not enough being done
- I realize a lot of people think Nature's Variety handled their recall very well however people aren't seeing the whole picture. They started recalling one lot in Feb. Then a month passed by & they recalled two more lots & then decided to recall all of the chicken. A month went by where cats & dogs continued to eat that food. How is that any different than in 2007. The recalls began march 16, 2007 but in April 2007, a month later, more food was recalled while pets were eating it in the meantime. No one has answered the question why it took Natures Variety a whole month to recall two additional lots of food, when they swore there was only 1 lot affected. They have also had numerous withdrawals of food in the past. Their history isn't so hot, I can only hope going forward they will do better. Do people know that for 2010 there has already been more than 1 pet food recall per month? I don't see that much has changed with pet food.

Pet Food
- I feed my dog Innova and it wasn't in the recall. Too bad these people only got probation for what they did. I feel as though something a little more sever should have been done. However, maybe with the class action suit, they will be hurt a lot more. Recalled pet food
- A mere slap on the wrist for murdering thousands. Meanwhile, recalls continue to NOT be very public. Pitiful. And there is not much we can do about this! - I think these people and all those associated with this poisoning of our furry family members should be in prison --even that is not enough punishment !!!

know your farmer
- After losing a dog during the melamin contamination and later discovering another dog had such extremely low minerals from eating a commercial raw food diet, I'm convinced the only way to know for sure what your dog is eating is to buy directly from a farmer and make your own food.

I don't trust commercial petfood
- Mine are almost totally on homemade, both cooked & raw. They get very few brands of canned & dry for treats & occasionally commercial raw.

loss of pets
- I lost a dog and cat to the petfood fiasco. It was like losing children and I was absolutely devastated. I realize the company was cutting costs, and was probably not aware of the dangers. That being said, I think it's atrocious how long it is taking to settle claims. I don't think they will ever be settled and the company will go on unpunished for pinching pennies.

- I feed Life's Abundance (www.buyholisticpetfood.com) A holistic, organic food with out fillers or preservatives. This is finally a food I, as a breeder, can trust. It can be shipped right to my door. My dogs are getting total nutrition so they eat less. The poop is less and they are getting much healthier all the time. At first they ate like they were starving then when they started getting nutritionally balanced they started eating less.

I make homemade food for my 3 dogs
- I only give my dogs a well-balanced home cooked (human grade) diet. I read up on dog nutrition by a couple dog vet/nutritionist and came up with my own recipe. Dogs are in great shape with shiny coats, no skin or digestion problems, etc. I am quite happy with their health knowing that I am giving them the best possible health. I do NOT trust any dog food company. I think that they keep finding ways to make their products cheaper to make. This has consequences and they don't care beyond keeping our pets alive by a shoestring and laughing all the way to the bank.

We're good
- After losing a cat to the melamine laced Chinese contribution to commercial pet foods, AND after then educating myself on truthaboutpetfood.com and other websites, I chose to feed only human grade food to my cats. Until I buy a good grinder, I am having to use raw meat without the bones and adding supplemental calcium to their diets along with the other supplements they need. So far, so good. Everytime I broke down and gave them (any) kind of commercial pet food, they would get sick (megacolon, IBD, hairballs, vomiting). Not going down that road anymore (sorry corporate America but I don't want your food filled with dead euthanized pets, manure and diseased animals...don't even want the cornmeal or carbs that reward them with diabetes. My cats are now 20, 19 and 18 respectively and I'm hoping now that I've dumped the poisen commercial pet food, they will all live to be 40. Had a good chuckle over the remark about Purina being "high quality" food. That is hilarious...
