My pet's name

Buddy and Peanut

My pet's age

around two years

How long we have been together

same time..they were born to a feral mom in a drain at the church

My pet is special needs because...

They were born with eye problems. One has no eye lid and we weren't sure if either could see. The vet has been wonderful and they have been put on vetri-lysine which helps with the drainage and lessens the red in the eye. They keep their eyes closed most of the time. They have a virus caused by poor care from or either bad nutrition when they were in utero. Their eyes aren't pleasant to look at but I think they are beautiful cats because I love them!

What I have learned from having a special needs pet

I have learned that there are no more loving cats than these. They are very active and curious about their world which is our house. Since they were feral they are a bit leery of other people but once they know you, you are loved. I worry about their eyes as I don't know if they hurt them but they seem happy and playful. They would not have been able to live outside long on their own so I am glad I could trap and socialize them.

Tips and Tricks

  • I treat them the same as my other four cats. They are no more trouble than the others. I did keep them in a small bathroom until they were vet checked and accustomed to me. Then I worked on getting them accustomed to the other four. They even got use to two inside dogs and all of us do fine together.

I love that you adopted them and gave them a loving home. Here's to many great years together.
