Cherry Eye

Share Your Story: Cherry eye - prolapse of the gland of the third eyelid in the dog

About my pet

Daisy is a British Bulldog. She developed Cherry eye at around 5months.

She is 7 months old now.

Options my vet gave us to fix cherry eye

My vet treated the Cherry eye with Maxisporin eye drops to try to get the swelling down a little.

We then had the operation to tack it back into place.

He prescribed prolet for after the operation, which I understand to be a anti- inflammatory and a pain killer.

The procedure worked but only lasted until now (7mths).

She has the cherry eye back and it seems worse than it did in the 1st place.

I have been giving her the anti-inflammatory again and also some "cool eye" drops both from the vet.

I'm not sure what to do next with the operation failing.

What I'd Do Differently

  • I think maybe I would have gone to more than one vet just to see what each one of them had to say.
  • Also I think I should have seen an eye specialist maybe.
