Question 4: Please describe a "typical" day at your practice.
Answer: You are seeing most of it right here -- I sit in my truck, I drive from farm to farm. It could be just down the road, across the street, it could be 100 miles, it could be 1000 miles away.
Dr. Tucker DVM describes his truck setup complete with computers, internet hookup, printer, and sound system for long days on the road.
Oh yeah, I also get out and float horses teeth. (laugh) A typical day is about 120 to 130 miles of driving, one horse or 20, depending on how many I have to do. I get their names, put the information in the computer, and then I float their teeth. I do it all by hand, I don't use any power tools, don't jack their mouths open or use drugs.
Typical day: I get up in the morning, probably around 5am, by 6 or 7am I am on the road, I get to the barn by 7 or 8am, I work until 3, 4, 5pm in the afternoon and do 10-20 horses a day. When I am done, I get paid and it is great and I come home. I've got my dogs, cats, horses and loving wife. That's my typical day, and it's not work, it's fun. That's something I wish everyone would say - it's not work, it's fun. That's my wish for everybody.
