Some of the signs seen with diabetes mellitus may be erroneously explained as "getting older" or "it's hot outside," but these are signs that shouldn't be ignored.
The onset of signs may be gradual and hard to notice at first. Learn to recognize the signs of diabetes mellitus and contact your veterinarian as soon as signs are noticed.
Diabetes mellitus typically appears in middle to senior age; 5 and older for dogs, 10 and older for cats, but this disease can strike at any age.
