Weeks 35 and 36 -- Progress Reports
We embarked on our new plan which started out okay, and the sores and scabs soon cleared up with the start of antibiotic treatment. However, our plans deteriorated when we had to make yet another out of town trip, due to a death in the family. My dog sitters came to the rescue, and managed to get all the new medications into the dogs, which was great, but I ended up putting the reduction of prednisone on hold until I got back, which made using all the new meds kind of redundant. Sigh -- the dogs looked okay but it was pretty much back to square one when it came to preparing for the blood tests.
Week 37 -- Progress Report
I managed to keep up with the dogs medication, but with everything that had been happening personally, the strategy of concentrating on the dogs wasnt working out well. It had been at least a month since theyd had a bath, I hadnt even got out the topical medication, and I had a difficult time scheduling the dose reductions of prednisone. The dogs were quite red and itchy, even with all the meds. Simba also decided he didnt like taking pills anymore. Medication times became a real chore with him (thankfully Asia remained a good sport about the whole thing).
