Westminster is a bench show, meaning that the dogs must be stationed on the "bench" (mini stalls for the dogs - a viewing area) when not in the ring on the day they show.
Each year 2,500 champion dogs compete at this show. This year, 3 new breeds were admitted: Irish Red and White Setter, Norwegian Buhund and the Pyrenean Shepherd.
I strive to feature a variety of breeds and focus on stories that involve service or rescue dogs plus lots of behind-the-scenes views of how the dogs spend their time. Stories and interviews with a veterinarian, a handler and her service dog, and an epilepsy alert show dog will be added to this gallery over the next few days.
