Behind Closed Doors

Proper handling and restraint of scared, ill, or temperamental animals is necessary for proper veterinary care. Liability-wise, only trained staff and doctors should be handling patients. Animals often act differently away from their owner, so many vets opt to treat the animal away from the owner. Also, some procedures require specialized equipment that could pose a health hazard to untrained personnel (i.e. x-rays). What are your thoughts on pets being treated "behind closed doors"?
