How To Make Us Your Home Page

Is About.com your most frequent destination? Would you like the VetMed page or another favorite page to load automatically each time you start your browser?

Here are the instructions for how to do this for both Netscape and MSIE. Instructions are given for the Vetmedicine home page, but you may substitute the URL for the location that you prefer.

Netscape Instructions:

  1. Pull down the "Edit" menu and select "Preferences".
  2. Select "Navigator" from the category list.
  3. Click on the "Home Page" button under "Navigator starts with" (or possibly "Browser starts with").
  4. Enter "http://vetmedicine.about.com" (without the quotes) as your home page location.
  5. Click on "OK".
Later, when you restart Netscape or click the "Home" button you will be brought directly to the VetMed home page (or other page you have selected).

For older (pre 4.0) versions of Netscape:

  1. Pull down the "Options" menu and select "General Preferences".
    Select the "Appearance" tab.
  2. Click on the "Home Page" button.
  3. Enter "http://vetmedicine.about.com" (without the quotes) as your home page location.
  4. Click on "OK".
Later, when you restart Netscape or click the "Home" button you will be brought directly to the VetMed home page (or page you have selected).

MSIE Instructions:

  1. Go to http://vetmedicine.about.com (or other page you wish to set as your home page). Important note: If you skip this step, this page of directions will instead become your home page.
  2. Pull down the "View" menu and select "Internet Options".
  3. Select the "General" tab.
  4. In the "Home Page" section, select the "Use Current".
  5. Click on "OK".
Later, when you restart MSIE or click the "Home" button you will be brought directly to theVetMed home page (or other page you have selected).

For older (pre 3.0) versions of MSIE:

  1. Go to the http://vetmedicine.about.com page (or other page you wish to set as your home page). Important note: If you skip this step, this page of directions will instead become your home page.
  2. Pull down the "View" menu and select "Options".
  3. Select the "Navigation" tab.
  4. In the "Page" menu, select "Start Page".
  5. Click on "OK".
Later, when you restart MSIE or click the "Home" button you will be brought directly to the VetMed home page (or other page you have selected).

Other Browsers
If you use a browser other than Netscape or MSIE, please consult the instructions for that individual browser for how to set homepages. Not all browsers have this feature.
