What can I do about this problem?
This is an emotional issue, and the numbers are so staggering that it is hard to think of where to start. The first thing to do is to spay or neuter all of your pets. If you are considering breeding, please consult with your veterinarian. Nature doesn't always 'take care if itself' and one should be prepared for all possible outcomes.

After that first step of spaying or neutering, here are some ideas and web sites to show what others are doing, and various ways that you can help.
