A Day in the life...

Keepsakes Art & Photography
"focusing on pets and their people.."
by Jeanne Brown

As a child, I was always the one who brought home the injured wildlife and helped out at the
shelters when I grew up. This is the type of child you get when she is raised on Dr. Doolittle instead of Barbie.

My day involves classes at SPC in the Vet Tech program and afterward my job revolves around photographing dopted pets. I've done volunteer work for local shelters and have had their photos put on Petfinder.com to help increase the chance of the animal being adopted. After they have found a new loving home, the families can have a portrait made with part of the funds going directly back to the shelter of their choice.

I love working with animals and the people who love them. Each day is different and I meet many great people and animals. We might be on the beach one day, or pets and owners cuddling up by a fireplace the next. Having my own business along with the opportunity to study veterinary technology, makes my professional life complete.

Many thanks to Jeanne for taking the time to share her 'day' as an animal photographer/vet tech student.

If you are a veterinarian, veterinary technician, student, or other pet-related career professional, please submit your story and share what YOUR day is like -- it not only helps those aspiring to be in a veterinary career, it serves to enlighten pet owners just what goes on behind-the-scenes at a typical (or not-so-typical?) vet clinic.
