And now, a few words from our viewers...

Fungal Infections Continued from page two...

Fungal infections usually need vet care but you can prevent this by keeping your dogs feet dry in wet, muddy conditions. Either make her/him wear boots or thoroughly clean and dry their feet when your finished your walk. This means getting right in between the toes and around the heel pad as that is where fungus starts.

If your dealing with allergies, see your vet and get some tests done. I know, I know, vets are expensive. If you can find the offensive allergy causing agent yourself and eliminate it from your dogs presence, then your saving yourself quite a bit of money.

Sometimes dogs just lick their feet out of boredom, kinda like a kid sucking their thumb or us chewing gum. If your dog does this and you've ruled out any medical conditions then let him be. If it becomes extreme, find a dog behavior specialist and/or trainer to find ways of helping your dog with the obvious anxiety they may have, it could be as simple as getting some new, quality toys to chew on or providing some extra loving attention.

Caring for your kitty's paws is much the same and most problems can be solved by keeping your cats off the streets.

Remember to keep their nails trimmed, whether it's a dog, cat, rabbit or iguana as overgrown nails can be very painful especially if they pierce the skin.
