Many people around this site [see this forum post] seem to have the same opinion about veterinarians in their area only caring about the money and not the pet. Well, around my area, there are veterinarians like Dr. Nikki Green who charges the minimum charge for everything she does. She barely comes out with a profit margin because she knows that people need their pets cared for and can not afford it. Now, I do agree there are many around that do not care for anything other than the money, that is one reason I joined the United States Military under the MOS of Animal Care Specialist. They will pay for my college while I care for the military working dogs and the enlisted people's pets. They do not charge a lot for their services. It will also give me a chance to get in there and fight for more of their more unreasonable decisions. I do not know how it is on other military posts but, here at Fort Leavenworth, they have a three day euthanization rule. If any dog or cat brought into their clinic is not adopted out within three days it is put to sleep. Now, to me, that is just cruelty. It takes more time than that to find a reasonable home for these animals! If I and my husband have to provide temporary homes for them, then so be it. Those animals did nothing to deserve being put to sleep and it is my intention to try and do something about it. I said earlier, I am low on the "food chain" here, and that is because I am not through with my schooling and I have not been through basic yet but, by September I will have completed basic training and my AIT training in Fort Sam Houston. Then I will be in school for veterinary medicine. Please, all who care -- wish me luck or pray for me as I continue my work. Thanks for
your time.
