BOOK REVIEW: PET FIRST AID -- FOR KIDS!
Now kids have a way to learn about basic pet health care and
what they can do to help in an emergency situation. Safety is
stressed above all else, and this is a great gift for kids who
are around animals or aspire to be a vet one day.

STRUVITE CRYSTALS AND PROTEIN INTAKE
"After many UTI's, my 3 yr old, 17 lb toy dog was diagnosed
recently w/ struvite crystals in her urine. I am wondering
if the Science Diet prescription food c/d will help as I
believe it's 19% protein vs the Nutro Lite she's on now which
is 14% protein." SUE28

PRACTICALS DURING HOLIDAYS
"I am a 4th year student in Veterinary Medicine in Malaysia.
I'm interested in carrying out my practicals on companion
animals medicine in places out of Malaysia. I had tried
contacting several universities in Australia and New Zealand
to find out more about having an attachment practicals under
their supervision. However, till now the response had not been
very encouraging. Thus, I decided to post this up here hoping for
feedback/advice/ideas regarding this issue." Y_YIN

SURGERY FOR HIP DYSPLASIA
"I have adopted a seven month old German Shepherd dog with severe
hip dysplasia in both hips (complete dislocation on one side and
partial on the other). According to two vets, she must be operated.
I would like to know what problems can femoral removal cause in the
short and long term - how much will this procedure affect her movement,
and will she have to be put to sleep at some stage?" ANAT99

GUIDE EXTRA

- Pet Scorpions? -
Not exactly a pet to cozy up to, but apparently scorpions are
gaining popularity as pets. Exotic Pets Guide Lianne McLeod
