VETERINARY Q & A - RABIES
A notable experience with bats from a fellow guide prompted
this health alert Q & A on Rabies. Learn more about this fatal

of deaths each year around the world.

POLYDYPSIA AND EXCESSIVE SALIVATION
"I have a 12 y/o neutered Belgian Tervuren who presented 2 weeks
ago with polydysia and excessive salivation. Labs: all within normal
limits. Slight (4 lb.) weight loss over past 3 weeks noted. No other
signs and/or symptoms noted. Teeth cleaned and oral cavity inspected
2 days ago with fractured tooth noted and repaired with a root canal.
No other abnormal findings were noted at this time.
Does anyone have any ideas?" HEARTSONGTM

LONG DISTANCE SCHOOLING
"I am thinking of taking a distance course to be a veterinary
assistant (I work full time but I would really just like the
knowledge in case I ever decide to try to work for a vet when I
"retire" or to help in volunteering at a shelter). Could you
tell
me what school you took your course through and how you liked it?"
