RABIES IN THE NEWS - HEALTH ALERT
There have been 5 human deaths from Rabies since September
in the US. Check out the latest news and learn how to protect
yourself and your pets.

FELINE MELANOMA EXPERIENCES SOUGHT
"I have a 15 year old Cornish Rex who has developed a
gray-blue, wart -like "bump" inside one ear and also one
on his inside thigh. They are soft to the touch and move
when you move his skin. Our Vet would like to do a complete
excision, along with some healthy tissue and then biopsy. The
Vet said it could possibly be melanoma or a benign skin tumor.
Does anyone have any experience with this feline malady?"

HEARTWORM TREATMENT
"Since Immiticide being introduced, it is the only drug I have
used to treat HW infected dogs. . I have had no deaths in these
patients although a few have sacred me a bit. So, I may be being
overly cautious but if I am to make a mistake, I would rather it
be on the more conservative side." Tate Allen, DVM

VETERINARY DEMOGRAPHICS
CBROUSE is doing a career report with her daughter. She asks:
"Where can she and I go on the internet to find out information on
the numbers of veterinarians employed in various locations in our
country? It would be like population density, only this would be
veterinarian density, including numbers employed, etc. nationwide.
We've both been doing searches on the internet and have come up
with nothing to help her. Any information any of you could provide
is greatly appreciated." CBROUSE

MEET BULLMAX
I am happy to introduce another forum helper, some of you may have
noticed her helpful replies under the alias, "BULLMAX". She is also
known as Mary Ellen Shropshire, and here is her bio:

NORMAL WATER INTAKE FOR A DOG
"I would like to know what is the normal daily water intake for
a dog? I have a 7 yr old male Rottweiler and lately noticed him
drinking much water. On the average, he consumes 2,000 to 3,000 ml
approximately per day and on some occasions more than this.
Is this normal?" CAROLINE1110
