Today is Spay Day 2012. What is Spay Day, you ask? It is the annual spotlight on spaying and neutering pets, sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International, in partnership with the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association, to bring attention to the pet overpopulation problem. This event helps save animals lives by reducing the millions of animals who die unadopted in shelters each year.
Spay Day is traditionally held on the last Tuesday of February and this is the 18th anniversary. While Spay Day is one day, any time is a good time to bring attention to the benefits of spaying and neutering pets.
