Regular readers of this site know that pet adoption and rescue is an important topic for me. I have shared stories about dogs, Sophie and Argos, and some of the cats I have shared my life with too; Herman Quinn, Greta, and Barnie.
All of them found their way into my home by different methods. Shelter adoption, retired racing Greyhound adoption, hit-by-cars brought into the clinic without an owner, and found as strays. I was lucky every time.
Some needed veterinary attention immediately before adoption and encouraged my decision to adopt. And over the years, we dealt with the "usual" health issues of pets as they reached their senior years.
Pets give us much to be grateful for. They remind us to get out and exercise and to laugh and enjoy the moment.
