The Washington State College of Veterinary Medicine has just announced two clinical trials of therapy; one for dogs with nasal carcinomas and the other for arthritis of the elbow joint that hasn't responded to other therapies.
Nasal Cancer Study
For this study, researchers will be investigating the use of toceranib phosphate (Palladia™ ), a drug first approved to treat Mast Cell Tumors (MCT) in dogs.
Patient Criteria:
Dogs with a diagnosis of nasal carcinoma, that are greater than 24 months of age, greater than 6.8 pounds of body weight, have greater than a 6 week estimated life expectancy, and have adequate organ function. They may not have evidence of extension of tumor into the brain, lymph node or any other metastasis, another known serious disorder incompatible with the study, or be pregnant or lactating.
