'Tis The Season To Overeat

Wednesday December 24, 2008
Dog eating food out of dog food bag - image credit: klynslis on FlickrMany people allow a few indulgences during the holidays, and that includes indulging our pets. Be warned though, too much of a good thing isn't a good thing. In fact, it can be a really bad thing. A large fatty meal may put your pet at risk for pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas.

This causes a very painful abdomen, hunched-up appearance, lethargy and vomiting, among other signs. Use caution when giving pets treats and foods (and lock down the garbage cans!) to prevent this serious condition.
