Fitness Poll: Exercising With Your Pet

Wednesday August 29, 2007
Pet obesity is a common, preventable problem that can lead to other potentially serious health conditions. Overweight animals are more prone to heart and joint problems, diabetes, some cancers, loss of energy and stamina and ultimately a shorter lifespan. A visit to your veterinarian will help determine if your pet has a weight problem. Losing weight and increasing fitness is a combination of diet and exercise, and your veterinarian will be the best guide of what the best protocol for your pet will be. Just like humans, pets need to start slow and not lose too much weight to fast to avoid health complications.

Do you currently exercise with your pet? Do you have any exercise ideas or products for other pet owners? Do you have any safety tips that you have found to be helpful? Add your suggestions by clicking the 'comments' link below.
