Pet Food Recall: Melamine Added to Foods in the US, Too
Monday June 4, 2007
The FDA recently announced that a U.S. company, Tembec BTLSR Inc. of Toledo, Ohio, has also been adding melamine (and related compounds) to feeds to help bind the ingredients. The company added melamine to food produced for cattle, sheep, goats, fish and shrimp. Some of the foods were used domestically, some were slated for export. Melamine is not approved as a food additive.
Contaminated food with the brand name Xtra-Bond was shipped from Ohio to Uniscope, Inc. of Johnstown, Colorado, as feed for cattle, goats and sheep in the US. AquaBond and Aqua-Tec II, both commercial fish foods, were destined for use in the US and for export.

This is really horrifying!!!! How are these companies getting away with this?? Is the only thing which is important to these companies the $$$??? How do these people sleep at night? These companies should be shut down and jailed and whoever ownes them should never allowed to open another business again, even under another name. We need more watchdogs in the FDA…
