I also have a very old cat. He is 23 years old. He still walks and occasionally trots. He has 5 teeth and eats a liquid “ensure” diet now. His quality of life is still there. I know I will let God take Tao (cat’s name). I will not end his life. He still wants to live. I suggest you pray to God and then ask your cat if she wants to live and you will get an answer from him and her.

Wish you well

Hi. I also have a senior cat, although he’s only 15 years. He was born deaf; he’s totally white with one blue eye & one gold eye. I’ve always thought he was very special & have admired his zest for life. However, he is now starting to lose his sight & gets scared rather easily (no wonder since he can’t hear & can barely see). Anyhow, my point is this: As hard as it is, I’m starting to ponder whether it will be best to have him put to sleep. Simply because I DO NOT WANT HIM TO SUFFER. Poor dears, they can’t ask us for pain pills or any way to make them more comfortable when they are hurting, so they are really at our mercy to do what’s right for them(so sad). All of this said, my main point is this: You owe it to your baby to do what is BEST FOR HIM, not for you. If it comes to the point that it looks like his quality of life is really poor, I think it’s your responsibility to consider easing his pain & letting him pass over to peace. I know this is hard to hear & please believe me when I say I can truly relate to your pain. In 2003, I had to make the horrible decision to put my beloved cat to sleep (he was 10.5 years at the time) because if I didn’t, he would have suffered an agonizing death (which would basically have been him DROWNING in his own fluids). They said he only had a 5% chance of making it. He was really in AGONY & we couldn’t even keep his body temp up. I knew he was going to die anyway, and I couldn’t BEAR the thought of him having a painful, terrifying death (imagine drowning & not knowing WHY); especially after he had already been through so much. His death has been the worst pain I have ever endured & the only other thing that will compare is when I lose my mom. I still cry for this cat, dream about him & I honestly believe that this animal was my soul mate (as odd as that sounds). He had been such a wonderful pet & friend to me that I KNEW I had to do whatever I possibly could to make things easier for him. It’s a pain I won’t ever overcome, but I KNOW that I did the right thing for him. He deserved it. I agree with the other person who commented that you should ASK HIM what he wants. I also believe that he will let you know what’s right. I hate to say this for fear of sounding like a FREAK, but if you can afford it, you could always consider contacting a pet psychic. The psychic could let you know what your baby is wanting & help you both to understand one another. When my baby died, I was so inconsolable that I finally HAD to contact the psychic. I can honestly say that it was absolutely the best investment I have ever made. (Only God himself appearing to me could have given me more peace). Unfortunately, that WONDERFUL LADY quit giving readings because of health problems, so I can no longer reach her. However, I have also used another psychic twice now. She is also very good (yes, I have had a reading from one who wasn’t very good, so I wouldn’t reccommend her to you). Anyhow, this good psychic’s name is Rachael Resk & her website is http://www.rachaelresk.com. Her phone # is 630-527-0306. You can read all about her on her website. Wow! I just read that she now offers a 15-minute reading for just $25. I know you said you don’t have alot of money (I don’t either, so I know how exciting it is to find this to be affordable). Oh, my other cat, Jig, went missing for 5 days several months ago (I do not let my cats out at all; somehow he got out on his own); that’s the 1st time I contacted Rachael. Guess what? We worked together & I got him back from the info she gave me! Anyhow, even if you are currently a skeptic, what would it hurt to give it a shot for $25? You might be amazed at her insight and/or what your cat has to say TO YOU! Sorry, I know I turned this into a book, but I wanted to share good info! I wish you the very best of luck. Feel free to email me if you’d like: SharlaStuart@hotmail.com. GOOD LUCK!
