Cat Catchoo!
Monday March 6, 2006
Cats are very susceptible to respiratory diseases. They do not catch colds from humans, but like humans, cats may show signs of sneezing, coughing or a runny nose. Cats may lose their appetite in more severe cases due to the loss of smell. Please contact your veterinarian if you notice any of these signs in your cat.

DENISEOWEN asks: "I recently adopted a five year old cat from the SPCA and I am a first time cat owner. My cat seems to have some sort of nasal congestion or sinus problem -- she sounds like a human would if they had trouble breathing through their nose. Does anyone know what this is or if there is something I could be doing? Her first check-up isn't until next Wednesday."

I’d like to find out what the diagnosis was for your cat. I have a cat who is approx 5 years old. In sept he had an upper respiratory cold. He seemed to get over it in about 3 weeks or so, but about a month later developed a sort of wheezing…So far we’ve X rayed his lungs & heart & that is OK. He’s been on several antibiotics & was given a steroid shot as well as B12 shots to boost his immune system. He breathes very loudly thru his nose. He still is eating & maintaining his weight, but I’d like to find the answer.I worry it will get worse…any help out there? Suggestions? He’s been tested for feline aids etc too & is negative…please help with any suggestions…he’s been like this for about 5 weeks now…..
I would also like to know the outcome of your cat cause i have many of my own and they all seem to be sick and i tried to find a common medicine to pick up but i havent been able to. Any suggestions??
