Like so many people across the United States and around the world, I continue to be shocked at the devastation from hurricane Katrina. With thousands of people left homeless, desperate for the basics -- water, food, clean supplies, I also wonder about the pets left behind and what rescue efforts are going on for the animals. This report by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is a detailed account of several rescue organizations working together in many regions.
