Veterinarians in the Marine Corps?

Wednesday April 13, 2005
ANWASH asks: "I'm a Marine that just got off of active duty, and I'm about to start college in the fall. I love the Corps, but I also want to become a veterinarian. I was wondering if anyone knew if the Marine Corps has veterinarians, or if this is a career better pursued in the civilian world."

well i can understand you, im not in the marines yet but i wanted to work with animals…there are veteranerians in the marines ill tell you that for sure, but i guess thats up to you if you want to “persue this career in civilian life” and use up 6 years of your life to become a vet… i dont plan on wasting that many years of my life studying animals. ide rather be a marine doing something els of some sort.

Well, I am in the Marine Corps and let me tell ya… i want to be a veterinarian too… they DO NOT have this option in the Marine Corps but they do in the Army… Now, I’m not goin’ to switch services to do this but that is a personal option you will have to make… i love the Marine Corps as well but i really want to work with animals again. It’s not an easy choice, but i just wanted to correct the previous person’s comment, I am in the Marine Corps and have been for almost 4 years, coming up on re-enlistment and i know for a fact there are NO VETERINARY OPTIONS in the Marine Corps…only the ARMY
