ILUVCHLOE asks: "My dog has a problem that my vet can't figure out. She is a 4 year old mix, and she has a black wart-like growth on her front right leg. It started out as just one, about 6 months ago, and now she has another just above it. She is constantly licking and chewing on this one, and consequently it is always a little bloody. In general she chews on her front legs a lot, but I don't know if that is the cause of these growths. They are each about 2/3 the size of a dime and stick out about .5-1 cm. Any ideas? My vet wants to biopsy, but that is so expensive."

my dog has several of these warts…. and i was terrified it was cancer. the vet confirmed that it was nothing to be concerned about unless they grew larger…… my dog is 13…… hope it helps.

my 6 yr old airedale has a black growth on his front elbow. It’s hard to describe but looks like a fungus – thin, frilly edges, about the size of a quarter. Vet dismissed it quickly as a wart but I’d feel better if i could find a picture confirming that diagnosis. nothing on the net I could see.

my dog has the same thing…..the vet wasn’t too concerned..wanted to remove them but the cost is way too high and if there is nothing to be concerned about then why remove them. If there was a concern of course I would have them removed…my dog eats, sleeps and is in good shape so there doesn’t seem to be any reason for me to be concerned at this point….
