Ketamine vs Isoflurane Anesthesia

Tuesday September 28, 2004
BLAZINGSTORMATDAWN asks: "A friend and I have a question about veterinary anesthetics. Can someone tell me if and why either Isoflurane or Ketamine would be a better, safer anesthetic for cats? I have heard of a cat who had surgery, died, was revived, but is now blind. Could this have been a problem with anesthesia?"

ketmine would be more safe in my opion because it is much less powerful per mg/ml than isoflurane. isoflurane is aprox. 70-80 times stronger then nitrous. I would consider that to strong for a 20lbs or less cat.
