MAZIESMOM asks: "I have a general question and that is are weed killers toxic to animals? If so, what brands or chemicals. My husband frequently sprays weed killers on our back lawn and in the back area which is part of the dog run. He tells me to keep the dogs off of it for a couple of hours but I am still worried that this may be what is causing masticatory muscle myositis in my Rottweiler."

Note from your Guide - Yes, herbicides and pesticides are toxic -- they are made to kill weeds and insects, and can have harmful and possibly fatal effects for pets and humans. Please read labels carefully and use with caution. If you have any questions, please consult the manufacturer (phone number is usually on the package) and your veterinarian.
