Pet Vaccination Experience
Thursday February 19, 2004
This is a new entry in the Viewer Viewpoint, the place where viewers can have their say and speak their mind! The frequency of pet vaccinations is a hot topic right now, and while I don't agree with everything in this piece, it does give one pause for thought. As always, please speak to your veterinarian to discuss your pet's specific health care options.

I own a 7 month old Havanese and my Vet recommended she have a vaccine for Lyme disease. It is February and I said I would rather wait.He still pushed for the vaccine.Well I took her for a walk right after and had to carry her home running!!! She had such a bad reaction she was put on a Benadryl IV.She is not shaking her head constantly and cannot rest from the spasms. There was no warning as to what the reaction could be after this vaccine and actually my plan was to run errands and she would have been left home alone, my change in plans saved her life.Just as a warning to other Dog owners all vaccine reactions should be discussed before you decide to have them.I am angry with myself for not screaming NO I don’t want this vaccine!!!! Is the disease worse than the vaccination? I don’t think so I’ll take my chances. I don’t know if I will ever get over this one!!!
