Cat-like Behaviour in Dog

Wednesday February 18, 2004
DOOLEXA asks: " My two-year-old Wheaten terrier mix has performed the following ritual since he was a puppy. He loves stuffed animals and pillows, but instead of playing with them, he literally throws himself on top of the pile as though it would be their final encounter. He then begins to knead the toys with his two front paws, similar to the way in which cats would perform this act and purr, until he falls asleep. It's honestly the most adorable thing I've ever seen in my life, but I've asked around, and nobody can offer an explanation."

My 3 year old shepherd mix does the exact same thing. She puts the pillow in her mouth and claws at it like a cat.

(2) Amy says:

The grandmother of my german wirehair pointer would blow bubbles underneath the water in the kiddy pool. I don’t think it’s the same thing… but it was really weird. We weren’t able to explain it. She would just shove her head under the water and blow bubbles. It really seemed to excite her.
