Ferret Rescue - Can You Help?

Sunday July 27, 2003
As a vet, one of the toughest things for me to see are the abuse and neglect cases. I just can't figure out how 'animal lovers' can let their animals sit in filth, without food, water, and attention! Sometimes the people think that they will make money, other people have been diagnosed with a mental disorder. This ferret rescue site was sent to me by a trusted friend involved in ferret rescue. Warning -- some photos may be disturbing. Rescued ferrets are available for adoption, and the rescue group can use financial help getting the ferrets vet-checked and adopted out.

i have a female ferret who is about a hlf a yr old. we got her from random people who couldnt take care of her. weve had her for several months now and everything has been fine. we have two other older ferrets adn they all get along good. all of a sudden on day, she was limp her mouth was stuck shut and drool was pouring out of her mouth. we tried to give ehr a trest, food, water. nothing would work her eyes were barely open. she wouldnt give us any movement no matter wat we did. so we put her in a cage by herself and she was fine a hlf hour later when we checked on her. eating and drinking. she was fine for about a week and then the same thing happend. and now shes fine again. i cant afford to bring her to the vet. one of my older ferrets broke its arm and it was $80 just to bring him in since they are considered exotic pets. it was a $450 bill for the first hour stay. we didnt have the money to bring her back every wekk but she healed well. i dished out all my tax returns on that one. i kno there isnt much anyone can do unless they look at her, but i cant afford to bring her in and for the, to do an tests. so if there is anyone who knows anything about this kind of behavior please help me!!! thank you sooo much.
